Website Audit Warnings That You Can Safely Ignore

One of the most important things that you can do to improve your website’s SEO is to consistently be looking for flaws in your current strategy. There are plenty of helpful tools that can help you identify these, such as Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, and Google Search Console. These programs tend to return a good amount of warnings and issues that your website may be having. However, this doesn’t mean that you need to meticulously address them all! When you’re met with some of these errors, you can safely ignore them without consequence. We break them down for you below!

Page is No-indexed

When these website crawler programs operate, they expect that you want every single page on your website to be seen. However, this isn’t always the case! In fact, it’s actually important to no-index pages like privacy policies in order to ensure that they aren’t flagged as duplicate content. The programs will return every page you no-index as a warning. However, if you meant to classify the page this way, this is something you can safely ignore.

Images Over A Certain Size

Another common error that website crawlers will display is the fact that you have images on your website that are above a certain size. The logic behind this is that images like these have the potential to slow your website down, which can be detrimental to trying to rank well. This is a warning that you can ignore if you’ve determined that your website’s speed is already good. There are plenty of free programs to check this, so don’t panic if you’re met with this error in bulk.

Low Content/Word Count*

Notice how we’ve put an asterisk at the end of this one? This is because this is an error you can ignore in very specific situations! For example, if you run an e-commerce website, there’s a very good chance that each item’s display page doesn’t meet the recommended content length. Other examples of pages that don’t need high word counts are contact pages, login pages, or photo galleries. If you’re met with this error, look at the type of page that it’s being reported for. If it falls under those categories, you don’t need to worry about it!
