Fresno, CA is located in Fresno County; about 200 miles north of Los Angeles, CA. The location was unappealing and filled with barren sand plains but the Company Director of the railroad was very impressed with a wheat field he saw in distance, so he made this a destination for a new station. Around the station, wheat farm and a single store, grew the town of Fresno Station, later called Fresno. The cities population has continued to grow over the years but really soared during the second half of the 20th century to the level it is today. Current Fresno is filled with culture from performing arts and music to Historic theaters, museums & sports organizations.
