Optimize your Twitter Profile | SEO Boston MA

Twitter will be reaching 500 million users by the end of March 2012 and if you have not joined now is the time. More importantly here are some tips on how to optimize your account so that you are not lost in the clouds of twitter

Much like optimizing a Google places listing the most important part is to fill in all possible information

Upload a picture for a profile image – Make sure your picture is the name of your business. Twitter will use this as an alt tag. (ex. boston-web-marketing.jpg)

Enter your correct Business Name and location so people can find and follow you.

If you have a website be sure to enter the URL to provide an additional backlink from one of the world’s most popular sites. A URL will display in in your profile page and ideally create additional visitors to your site.

Fill out your bio. Front load your Twitter bio with keywords that reflect what your business does. Various twitter search engines may pick up on your keywords which can help increase page visibility. You can also add links within your bio but remember the bio is limited to 160 characters.

Lastly in the Design Tab Change your background color or upload an image of your own. This will help to differentiate your page from others and create a more engaging look and feel.
