Part 1
- Go to https://google.com/webmasters/tools
- Click “Add a site” in the top right corner
- Enter your site name such as: example.wordpress.com
- Choose the HTML Tag option for verifying ownership of you site
- Copy the string of digits in quotations after the word content
Example
- If your html tag is: <meta name=”google-site-verification” content=”MzA898RHENzQD198HGbitpf-DbGRTEom_a3uFSEZ5Dk” />
- You would only copy: MzA898RHENzQD198HGbitpf-DbGRTEom_a3uFSEZ5Dk
Part 2
- Login to your wordpress.com blog
- In the menu on the left side:
- Hover over Tools and then select Available Tools
- Paste the the string of digits into the webmasters tools box and click Save
Part 3
- Go back to webmasters tools and click verify
- Every wordpress.com blog has a built in sitemap located at: /sitemap.xml
- You can submit your wordpress.com blog sitemap the same way as you would with any other website
