Recently, in the new call-only campaigns in AdWords, there is now a phone verification aspect. AdWords is doing this to verify that the phone number provided is actually connected with the business that is advertising. If your business number hasn’t been approved, it will be registered as “Unverified” in the Ad extension tab.
To ensure your phone numbers get verified, follow these steps:
- Make sure the phone number that is used in the extension is on the website.
- AdWords and Google Webmaster Tools accounts should be linked.
- On the landing page of your ad, add the AdWords conversion code snippet.
If you are using a 3rd party system, you can use the 2nd and 3rd options to confirm your numbers.
To guarantee your ads aren’t rejected, make sure to verify your phone numbers before this goes into effect in June 2015.
