The New and Improved Way to Verify Google My Business Listing

Google My Business Listing, previously known as Google Local and before that, Google Places, can now be automatically verified once your website’s URL is a verified site in Google Webmaster’s Tools.

In order for this tow work, you will first have to install Google Webmaster’s Tools onto your website; then, for instant verification, sign into Google My Business with the same Gmail account you used to verify your site with Webmaster’s Tools.

Of course, not all businesses that are verified with Google Webmaster’s will enjoy instant verification of this listing; not all businesses fall under the categories produced by Google. If this happens to you, follow this link: https://support.google.com/business/answer/2911778 and other methods of verification.

If you do have a business that won’t get verified instantly, you can fall back on the old method of verification; you can have Google call you with a pin code, or you can have them send out a postcard that contains the pin code. Once you get the pin code, you type it into your listing.

The old way of verifying this listing, certainly was not difficult; but now you can update your listing and have it verified all in one motion, instead of waiting for the voice call or the postcard.
