The Higher the Better: Google Author Ranks

Most small business owners are directly responsible for the performance of their website, social media, and online marketing campaigns.  If this is the case then Google considers you an author.  The recent updates to Google’s Author Rank means you can now claim and get credit for the content that you wrote for your website, blog, article sites, and social media.

How it works:

Google has decided that if the content on a page is linked to an author who has a strong Author Rank in Google, that page’s search position will be higher than if it has no author, or if it is linked to an author with a lower Author Rank.

+1 Button: Share this post right now!

By adding the +1 button to your website, this allows visitors to recommend your content to their circles and drive traffic to your site. The +1 button can also improve the time spent on your site by providing recommendations for further reading.

Social Media Activity:

The amount of times your Facebook post is Liked or your Tweet is Retweet plays a part in building a high Author Rank.  Google also analyzes how often and how fast your content is shared and discussed throughout social media networks along with the amount of comments the content produces across social networks.

To develop strong Author Rank you need to create and optimize your personal Google Plus page with URLs and links to your website, blog posts, articles, and any other content you produce. Link your Google Plus profile to your content by using the rel=”author”. Lastly,  continue to publish high-quality, original content on a regular basis! Good Luck!
