Earlier this year the insidious Heartbleed virus exposed vulnerability in the majority of web servers worldwide. In response to this, many tech companies have joined together to try to prevent a similar virus in the future. Companies including: Facebook, Microsoft, Google, and many others have pledged $100,000 a year, for a total of $4,000,000, for the next three years towards research on how to thwart a similar virus. Hopefully their due-diligence pays off and the internet is a more secure place because of it.
