It’s been officially reported that Google is slowly rolling out a new look for the Google My Business photo section. The entire Google My Business interface has undergone dozens of updates and remodels as of late, with their newest remodel a drastic change from their old layout.
It’s not uncommon for users and business owners to express frustration over the poor user experience for the Google+ and Google My Business page, however this new organization of the photo area should be a welcoming change.
Instead of different categories for organizing the photos, these will now be replaced with tags (“From Owner,” “Customer,” “Interior,” etc.) There is also an easier layout for viewing and adding your cover photo, logo and profile picture. There is no word yet on whether or not Google will honor these three set photos as the ones that will be pulled in for search results, but you can still view your photo insights.
Publishing your company’s latest photos of products or services or even staff members is important to give users an accurate description of what you offer. The more photos that are posted by the owner, the most likely those will be displayed in search results before customer photos. Also always make sure your contact and company information is accurate so as not to confuse both users and the search engine.
What many businesses don’t realize is that they have multiple Google Business pages floating around. If this is the case or if you aren’t sure whether this has happened, it’s best to first do a search of your company name. If different information is pulled up on the right hand side, this means there’s another page out there you’ll need to claim and then delete. Contacting a full service search engine optimization company is the safest bet to ensure that all your listings are accurate and up to date.
