Emojis are becoming increasingly common in our everyday conversation that occurs on the internet. Most people thought that the use of emojis to communicate was just for Millennials. However, it seems that popular well-known companies are taking full advantage of emojis in the marketing world. Earlier this June, Facebook Messenger announced a whole new line of 1500 emojis for the app. On their business Facebook page, they stated:
“From skin tones that you can choose to lots of women in great roles, Messenger is beginning to make emojis more representative of the world we live in.”
Other large companies have been investing in their own line of emojis including Taco Bell, Dominos, and Bud Light. It seems that the use of emojis in marketing will only be increasing. In a report by Social Bakers, the use of emojis used on Facebook and Twitter has increased from 2014 to 2015. They gathered this information from the top 500 brand pages on Facebook and Twitter during one-quarter. If you notice that your consumers online are using emojis that might be a good sign to start incorporating them into your marketing strategy. However, if you do start to use emojis for your brand, make sure they are relatable, creative, and connected to your business. It’s always important to keep an eye out for evolving trends on social media, you want to make sure your business is never behind the times!
