Keeping Keyword Research Painless

Keyword research is an essential part of SEO, and some methods can take a lot of time out of your day. Some can be done in under 30 minutes!

Every industry is backed by more than one website. Look at your competitors or companies you are looking to emulate. Take note of their blog categories, and come up with several that you feel your business can rank with relevant content and proper organization. How can you spin it for your own company? Find takeaways from their popular and seasonal content and figure out ways to tailor it to your needs and make your business competitive.

Google Search is a great tool for keywords. If you’re looking for related searches, type in a search without hitting enter. Take a look at the suggested searches listed below and determine whether your business falls under any of those results. You can also fill in a follow-up word alphabetically, such as “keyword a” and “keyword b.” The related searches will give you additional keywords and additional searches to rank in before you take the new list and enter it into the Keyword Planner to see search traffic, potential click volume and additional keywords to consider.

If you are looking for more long-tail keywords, you can search for frequently asked questions involving your industry. Since FAQs are longer, they are often easier to rank for than simpler keywords. Answering these questions throughout your content can help you rank and cement your status as an industry expert. Choose from a few categories to further hone your expertise.

Keyword research is a critical part of SEO, but it doesn’t need to be a time-consuming process. Make sure your goals are in order, and it could be a breeze!
