For some time now, Apple has been discussing adding public transit information to its mapping product and they’re getting closer! The company has had access to the transit information, but for reasons that remain unknown, hasn’t been able to add transit directions into Maps.
The company is looking to hire a software engineer who will be added to the Maps division’s Routing crew. The candidate would need to have comprehensive knowledge about public transit, not only as a consumer, but as technical support. Along with managing and applying public transit data, the candidate would be responsible for improvements in the Maps application.
It is rumored that the improvements made to Maps will be announced at an event in San Francisco on June 8th.
