Producing new content for your website on a regular basis is an important part of search engine optimization, but it can be challenging to come up with new, fresh ideas. One great way to add fresh content to your website without totally changing your main pages all the time is by creating a blog. A blog will allow you to express ideas and answer questions that you’re frequently asked about your products, services, or whatever else your website is about. At the same time, the blog will show search engines that your website is active and useful, improving your search engine optimization, which will result in more clicks and hopefully conversions. In this blog of our own, we’ll let you in on some tips and tricks to help you write high-quality content for your own website!
Use Keyword Research
If you’re having trouble coming up with blog topics, a great way to get some inspiration is by performing keyword research. Keyword research is the process of finding keywords and phrases relevant to your business that users often search for when looking for products, services, or general information. This can be done using your website’s Google Search Console account under “Top Queries” within the “Performance” tab. By looking at the keywords and phrases your website is currently performing for, you can capitalize on those topics by writing content about them.
Do Not Keyword-Stuff
While it may seem like a good idea to put in the keywords and phrases you’re trying to rank for as many times as you can in a blog, it’s actually a punishable offense by Google. Keyword stuffing is considered a form of black-hat-SEO, which is the all-encompassing term for unethical SEO tactics that don’t follow Google’s guidelines. When the Google AI algorithms realize that you’re keyword stuffing, they can enforce manual actions on your website that shoot you down the search engine results page rankings. A good rule of thumb for keywords and phrases in your blogs is that they only make up around 1%-3% of the total text on the page.
Page Titles & Meta Descriptions
One more thing you should make sure to really focus on when publishing blogs on your website is that they should have proper page titles and meta descriptions. The page title (the hyperlink to your website that appears on the search results) and the meta description (the description of the page that appears below the page title on the search results page) are the two things that people use to decide whether they’re going to click on a website or not. For this reason, it’s important for these to be accurate and descriptive so that they make a user want to read what you have to say.
