Google’s keyword planner is mainly used for Google Adwords but it is also useful in many other ways. Here are a few different ways to use the keyword planner to help cultivate ideas for keywords to use on your company’s website. Below is a step-by-step instruction on how to use this Google tool.
First, sign into the Keyword Planner with your Google Adwords email and password. Click “Search for new keywords using a phrase, website or category”. Then, enter your keyword, landing page, product category, target area and click the “Get Ideas” button. Choose keyword ideas and you’ll see a list of related keywords, average monthly search, competition level and suggested bid amount. The list of keywords in the Keyword Planner will provide a variety of keywords, finding words with large search volumes and getting ideas for blog posts or building out pages on your website. Lastly, on Keyword Planner’s home screen, choose “Get search volume data and trends” to see the average each keyword is being searched for each month. This will also help you find new and relatable keywords to use on your website as well.
