How To Manually Request Indexing Using Google Search Console

The process of indexing a page is essentially when Google adds that page to the possible results of any given search engine results page. For a page to be indexed, it must first be “crawled” by Google, which is the process of finding, then registering and machine-learning what is on the page. By crawling and indexing a page, Google is able to know what kinds of queries and phrases that the page should rank for. The ability that Google has to recognize the information that a page provides is what makes them the strongest search engine – because they give the user the best results for whatever it is that they are searching for. The problem with this process for website owners is that Google can take a long time to come across and index a new page that’s been created because they need to sift through the entire internet to find it. The good news is that there is a way that you can put your new page at the top of Google’s indexing priority list!

Request Indexing Using Google Search Console

The fastest way to get a new page indexed on your website is to use Google Search Console. If you don’t have Google Search Console set up for your website, it’s as simple as signing into search console using a Google account, then verifying that the website is yours by linking your Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager account, adding a specific line of HTML to your site’s backend, or by using your domain host. While this may sound complicated, it’s quite simple and a step-by-step guide can be found on the Google Search Console website. Once you’re logged into your search console account, you’re almost ready to have your page indexed. The next step is to copy and paste the URL of the page you’re looking to have instantly indexed into the search bar on the top of the page that says “Inspect any URL in YourWebsiteName.com”. Once you’ve hit enter, you’ll be brought to a page that will inspect that specific URL. The final step is to click the button on the right side of the screen that says “Request Indexing”, then a message should pop-up saying that the indexing has been requested. Once these steps have been completed, your new web page should be crawled and indexed by Google sometime in the next 24 hours.
