What is a Permalink?
A permalink is a static URL that points to a specific page away from your homepage i.e blog, forum, etc. If you don’t use a permalink, every link will be forwarded to the main blog page versus the individual post.
What does a Permalink look like?
There are generally three types of Permalinks:
- Default:
o https://www.examplesite.com/?p=W
- Mod_rewrite:
o https://www.examplesite.com/2014/post-name/
or
o https://www.examplesite.com/2014/12/25/post-name
- PATHINFO:
o https://www.examplesite.com/index.php/yyyy/mm/dd/post-name/
Changing Permalink structure:
To change your Permalink structure go to Settings > Permalinks. From there you have two options you can either choose one of the “Common Structures” or you can create a “Custom Structure”.
