What is Keyword Research?
Keyword research is a huge part of SEO, also known as search engine optimization. One of the major elements of SEO is content, meaning that the more relevant your keyword focus is, the more you will show up for what you want. While you may want to come up with a specific keyword, this may not actually be the most popular keyword to use for a specific phrase.
Things to Look Out For
When doing keyword research for a company that stretches across the entire United States, or even internationally, you need to make sure that that keyword works the best for that specific region, and if it doesn’t, then you need to make sure that these are differentiated. Even in the United States, different regions have different dialects, and something that works great in your region, might not work great for somewhere very different.
One of the biggest ways that this can show is especially on international platforms. While a direct translation may seem the most feasible, sometimes that is not necessarily what people are looking up. This is hard to remember, especially when we are taught more formal ways of saying things, as many times, slang is used when searching. Without an understanding of this, or doing keyword research, it can be hard to gauge the extent of correctness.
Mix in Long Tail
Long tail keywords are what most people search for. That is more than four words and acts as a descriptive way of getting exactly what you want out of a search engine. While you may not want to market directly towards this, it is good to make sure you have a wide range of keywords while focusing on the main topic. This diversification of keywords will be beneficial in the long run.
