Not sure if your business is listed on Google? Try Googling your businesses name into the search bar. If it doesn’t show up, try adding in the name of the town you are located in. Furthermore, go to Google www.google.com/business/ and search for your businesses name. If your business is listed on Google, you will be able to access and update your Google My Business page. This listing is important for SEO and is another avenue where users can find (and update) your business information. Verify your listing
To ensure accuracy across the web and to provide its users with a reliable service, Google makes business owners verify thier business listing. This prevents unethical business practices of competitors and again, provides users the information they need when they type in a search. To verify your listing, you can prompt Google to send you a postcard to the listed address that arrives generally within 5 days OR you can prompt a call from an automated bot that will provide you a code you will be able to enter within the listings admin page. This automated call is sent to the phone number provided in the listing. Once fully verified, you will be able to update your business information such as hours, description, amenities/ products, and a variety of other pertinent information that are available depending on how you categorize your business. Additionally, you can add photos to better represent what your business is all about. Google My Business listings are also a great resource for users as you can list a clickable phone number where users can call and your address where users can click to pull up directions. Managing and optimizing one’s Google My Business page is recommended regardless of the type of business you operate.
