The new Google Penguin update won’t be happening until 2016, so now is the time to prepare for the update and make sure your website is penalty free. This new update will supposedly take place in real-time, which means as soon as Google reads good or bad links on your website, the algorithm will analyze those links in real-time and make ranking changes. Penguin was first announced in April of 2012 with its purpose being to penalize any websites that buy links or use low-quality backlinks.
Here are just a few tips to help you prepare for a Penguin Update in the new year:
- Actively monitoring your website is important. Webmaster tools is a good monitoring system for searching backlinks on your site.
- Sudden spikes may not always seem good in Google’s eyes, try to produce high quality through links, instead of increasing traffic.
- Try to remove any bad or weak links that you may find on your website.
- Anchor text on your website should be non-descriptive text; try to avoid over-optimization.
Always make sure you check your site for any link that may be harmful because Google will never stop checking.
