One of Google’s goals as a search engine is to get users the information they are looking for as quickly as possible. This all starts around organic search results and ranking websites that relate to specific searches. As discussed in previous blogs, Google has incorporated “Knowledge graphs” which provides information along side organic results relative to searches. Google has continued to incorporate valuable information to users that removes the need to click on pages. Examples that Google provide in Knowledge graph results are sports scores and product prices. A quick search of “Celtics Hawks Score” into Google will immediately give you the result.
The latest injection of knowledge graph results has expanded into health related searches. The data displayed in the Knowledge Graph include information regarding symptoms, treatments & more in-depth details. Google states that actually one in twenty searches are health related. Google has worked with a team of doctors to compile this accurate and informative info. Google’s product manager wrote that: “All of the gathered facts represent real-life clinical knowledge from these doctors and high-quality medical sources across the web, and the information has been checked by medical doctors at Google and the Mayo Clinic for accuracy.”
We look forward to seeing the ongoing additions that Google Knowledge Graph incorporates.
