Google has updated their mobile search for those searching for local businesses. The search engine giant has started to show more information about local businesses in some local knowledge panel, local three pack, results. Some of the additional information that can be seen for some searches include locations, about, menus (if a restaurant) and sometimes Google Posts.
Below is a screenshot of a mobile search for Walmart. In the local three pack, you can see it shows the different locations and an “About” tab for knowledge panel information about the retail store.
This information will appear in mobile searches for businesses that have a knowledge panel displayed for their brand name search and local presence in the user’s area. So far this new feature only shows up for major businesses and brands such as Walmart, KFC, McDonald’s, Target, etc. so Google may still be testing this out. Check back here for any updates.
