Flash Based Websites Should Expect Even Lower Traffic From Mobile Users
This week Google rolled out a new update to search engine result pages (SERP) that warns mobile users whether a website is using flash. If a website using flash comes up in your Google search result, there is a warning listed below where a website’s description and site links would normally appear.
As we have discussed in previous blogs, Flash is not good for SEO. The two big arguments against Flash 1. Google is not able to crawl Flash animations for content. 2. Mobile Devices can’t load flash. For further reading on the subject, refer to this article about Flash and SEO
The warning reads: “Uses Flash. May not work on your device. Try anyway | Learn more.”
Though the warning includes the option to ‘try anyways’, this message is likely to deter mobile users to click through. If your website is using Flash it may be a good time to update.
