Buzzfeed has reported from an anonymous source at Google that the search engine might be adding a function that will allow contractors such as plumbers, electricians, and handymen to connect directly with searchers looking for their services.
Little is really known about the platform, and at the moment it is just a rumor, but the system could be connected through Google My Business. Certain search queries could trigger the platform, which could give searches a comprehensive area to select and compare the contractors they are searching for.
Amazon recently started their own home service platform that connects people searching for handymen with an Amazon approved professional. Google clearly wants to be a part of this industry as well, but it remains to be seen how they will do this.
