Google Is Getting Into Domains

Google is making the move that will give Godaddy and Fatcow something to worry about. They are going to break into the domain register business offering most of the same features that other companies typically offer.

Google will offer easy-access to site building services for an additional fee for users that want the all-in-one approach to building a website. Some of the site-building services from Squarespace, Shopify, Wix, and Weebly will be available when purchasing your domain with Google.

Right now the feature is invite-only but you their are feature to look forward too. You can get your branded email that forwards to an existing account – not to get you confused with Google Apps domain support along with domain forwarding. In addition, a variety of different generic top level domains  (gTLD) will be supported, including .photography and .guru that are beginning to roll out over the next few months.
