Googles search engine is forever changing. Whether it be an updated algorithm or a newly integrated asset into searches, they are always trying to make the search process as easy and quick as possible. In addition to its latest mobile algorithm, Google has announced mobile users can access their “favorite websites” through a sliding carousel.
The announcement reads: “Whether you are looking for Pinterest pins, Vines, Houzz idea books or Food Network recipes, you can now browse through more content from your favorite websites within Google search results on your mobile device. Simply swipe through links within a carousel and tap any link to read or watch exactly what you are interested in.”
This information can be accessed through a carousel. An example which Google provided is located below.
Whether or not this sticks and becomes a benefit to users, is to be seen. One thing we can surely see is that websites that come up for similar searches will most likely be hurt. Users will be more apt to try out the carousel, rather than clicking on the organic listings below.
We are not sure how Google ranks items and pages in their Carousel slider. Does google hand pick what makes this section or are they using a similar algorithm that’s used for the organic results? Moving forward we will keep an eye out for further information.
