Google Discontinuing Google Site Search By End Of 2017

The search engine giant has announced that by the end of 2017, it will be ending its support for Google Site Search. This service is a paid product that lets website developers power your internal website search through Google technology. What Google will start to do is redirect current customers to the new ad-powered product free custom search engine or the new cloud search product. By the end of the fourth quarter of 2017, there will no longer be the Google Site Search product.

For those that are already using the service, Google will be offering technical support through the duration of license agreements that are already in place. Making sure that the transition to the new products is as smooth as possible. For customers that have contracts that expire between April and June 2017, they will be offered a free 3-month extension. This extension will allow developers to make necessary changes to their website.

If your website is currently paying for this soon to be discontinued service, start checking out the two alternative products to head into 2018 with. Either the free custom search engine and the cloud search product are both great products with similar functionality to Google Site Search.
