Google announced new ad formats in time for the holiday shopping season this week. The new ads will appear in Google Search, Google Image Search and on third-party websites that display Google Ads and allow businesses to show products and services through images and videos.
What is a Showcase Ad?
A showcase ad will appear at the top of search results when a broad query is entered, such as “women’s shoes” or “bedroom furniture.” Several images related to the term will appear at the top of the page, along with an image promoting your business or even giving the distance to your storefront if applicable. When a user clicks on the ad, they will be redirected to a page with more similar products to the query.
Showcase Shopping Video Ads
Users can now display videos in the new Showcase Shopping ad format in search results. Released last year, these ads are displayed in the position of the featured image in broad, brand-focused queries. Positioned in the same location as a featured image, the video will play with selections from your product feed listed below for curious customers. Showcase video ads are ideal for businesses looking to attract new customers. The new video option is available to advertisers already enrolled in Showcase Shopping ads.
Shoppable Image Ads
Over one-third of online shoppers looked at images of products before making a purchase during the 2017 holiday season, and this season you will be able to make sure your content is front and center. A tag will appear on your image when your ad appears on a third-party website, linking to an image carousel that exhibits similar products. The process differs slightly in image search results: your ad will show as a larger image, labeled with the price listed on your website. The images will have a Sponsored label in the corner. The Shoppable Image Ad format is beginning to be rolled out and will become more visible as we reach the end of the year.
