Google Analytics Now Includes Google Business Profile Data

Have you ever wanted your business’s Google Business Profile data to appear with the rest of your metrics and key performance indicators under the same platform in Google Analytics? Well, we’ve got some great news for you. Google has now made it official that Google Business Profile data can appear in Google Analytics! Earlier last month, Google published documentation for a link between Google Buisness Profile and Analytics, which now allows key metrics like click-to-calls, direction requests, and more into the analytics platform and reports. Keep reading below to learn more about Google Analytics latest integration!

Understanding What Shows Up in Google Analytics

Google’s latest integration provides business owners with significant peace of mind and convenience when it comes to their Google Business Profile data. Once your Google Business Profile is linked to Google Analytics, expect to see your key metrics in your analytics reports. It is confirmed that seven metrics can now be visible on the analytics platform, including interactions, website clicks, clicks to calls, direction requests, messages, bookings, and menus. Not sure how to set up this integration? You can do so by clicking the Google Analytics Admin panel under product links, and Google Business Profile should appear.

Understanding What the Integration is Incapable Of (For Now)

Keep in mind that if you link more than one Google Business Profile, Google Analytics will combine its metrics across every single one of them. As of right now, it is not possible to filter individual locations on Google Analytics. In fact, the metrics provided cannot be used for explorations, comparisons, or filters, and this integration does not currently support sub-properties. It is also worth noting that Google Analytics only keeps track of Business Profile data for only six months. The analytics reports are not capable of providing reports of anything exceeding the six-month mark, even if your analytics date range goes back farther. Additionally, the Google Analytics dashboard differentiates itself from the Google Business Profile dashboard in one way. It provides every single metric regardless of the type of your business, whereas the Business Profile dashboard hides metrics that are irrelevant or don’t apply to you.

Why This New Integration Matters

Until this past month, Google Analytics could only view Google Business Profile traffic through UTM tags on profile links, which basically tracked website clicks. Clicks to calls, direction requests, and bookings occur on the profile itself, but now a native link integrates these metrics and actions into the Analytics platform along with web data.
