Google has added a new mobile ad format for location-based searches, the top four paid business listings will now display with directions and a click to call link in a new “Nearby business” pack. Google Trends data states “near me” searches doubled within the past year 80 percent comes from mobile. This change will display new nearby ads instead of the traditional ads we are accustom too.
The new mobile ad format seems similar to organic local business listings on Google mobile searches.
In order to show the new nearby business mobile ad format an advertiser must have their local extensions enabled in their AdWords account in order to display their ad on this new ad mobile format. This will include a link to grab directions or a click to call their business.
