What You Should Know About Facebook’s Business Page Layout

When Facebook rolled out its new business page layout in August 2016, many business owners were upset to have to learn the new functionalities in order to optimize their page. The new layout, however, was created to be more appealing to the consumer. It has been divided into three different columns, and the profile picture no longer appears on top of the cover photo.

The profile picture is now located at the top, left side of the page. Below the profile picture is the new navigation bar. This is where users can find sections of the page such as About, Posts, Likes, Photos, Videos, Services, Shop, Email Sign-up, and Events. You are now able to customize the navigation bar by reordering the tabs, and even create a tab to show other social media platforms.

The right column features customizable content such as business info, ratings, followers, and visitor posts. There is also a “search for posts on this page” bar that allows visitors to do just that.

The most appealing part of the new layout is the large call-to-action button under the cover photo. The old layout placed the call-to-action button on the cover photo, but now it’s clearer and more noticeable. You can also choose from various options for your call-to-action:

  • Book Now
  • Start Order
  • Call Now
  • Contact Us
  • Send Message
  • Send Email
  • Watch Video
  • Learn More
  • Shop Now
  • Use App
  • Play Game

There is also a new “post options” that allows nine different options to enhance a post:

  • Share a photo or video
  • Get sign-ups
  • Advertise your business
  • Get phone calls
  • Get messages
  • Help people find your business
  • Create an event
  • Create an offer
  • Write a note

This allows the manager of the page to easily share messages, posts, photos, and videos.

The new layout may seem like a hassle to learn all of the new features, but it makes navigating the page easier for users, increasing engagement.
