Decrease in Referrer Spam Issue on Google Analytics?

Google has been having serious issues with Google Analytics referrer spam for the last year. But now, there has been some indication from some webmasters that the issue with the referrer spam has been decreasing. You can find in the Local Search Forum some webmasters discussing the decline in referrer spam in their reports as well. Google has not publicly mentioned anything about this topic but can it be that Google has finally solved the referrer spam issue on Google Analytics?
