Local SEO is about competition and appearing in search rankings before your competitors, ideally taking up the top results and the Knowledge Graph in the sidebar, where Google My Business listings will appear. If you have claimed your Google My Business listing, you can continue to optimize your account and push more content through by utilizing Google Posts.
Google Posts are a fairly new feature, introduced by Google in mid-2017. Posts can be used to advertise events, sales, and goings-on around your office. You can include a photo, a short blurb about your business, event or happening, and a link to your site so potential customers can continue their research into your company. The text can include relevant keywords and locations to help boost the ranking. The Post will appear just below the standard information in your Google listing. The Post will remain on your listing for seven days, or after your event occurs, to maintain timeliness.
Posts may prove to be extremely beneficial during the holiday season as more businesses begin to roll out sales and deals for people shopping for friends, loved ones, and gatherings. While official word is not out about whether or not Google Posts will boost rankings, they are an additional measure that can be used to get people to interact with your Google My Business profile and get users to visit your website.
