Mobile Version

One of the first things you should do is ensure your mobile site is optimized. Check out your site’s Google Search Console to ensure that there aren’t any errors, such as elements being too close together. Mobile indexing is a very important factor in your site’s SEO, so having an optimized mobile site is essential.

Content Is King

As always, content is one of the most important factors on your website’s rankings. Be sure to update the site consistently, and go through the site on a regular basis to see what areas you can improve on. This applies to both blogging, as well as service area pages, and other interior content.

URLs & Metadata

Another area that is important to optimize is your metadata and URL’s. Obviously, your metadata is one of the most important factors on your website’s ranking ability, is it informs search engines and users as to what the content on your pages is about, making it an extremely important area to optimize, as most know. However, another area that needs to be optimized is your URL’s. You can use the URL’s of your pages to implement a few more relevant keywords. For example, if you’re offering a particular service in an area, on that city’s SAP, you can add the services within the URL, helping to improve your ability to rank for those particular keywords in that area. It’s important not to stuff your URL’s full of keywords though, as it can hurt your rankings if you begin to keyword stuff your content.

Canonical Tags & Duplicate Content

While it is important to ensure that your site is full of relevant content, it must also be unique. When you’re creating content, be sure to write unique content for all of your pages! If Google finds that too much of your site consists of duplicate content, it can be penalized, hurting your site rankings. Be sure to write unique content for all of your pages, and if for some reason you need to have the same content on multiple pages, be sure to use the Canonical tag to ensure that your page is seen as the original copy, and no index the content that doesn’t need to be ranked.
