Back in November, we explained to our readers what Accelerated Mobile Pages, or AMP for short, were. This week, Google announced that AMP will be going live in search results on Wednesday, February 24th.
What this means is that anyone searching on a mobile device will start to see any content optimized for AMP in their search results. AMP was created to make website pages load faster on their mobile devices. Since load time is a Google ranking factor and a good SEO practice, AMP might play into this. These pages will be stripped of many features that you need to download when viewing a website page. While Google will be launching next week, other organizations, such as Twitter, will also be using this protocol.
